April Prayer Calendar

Our team prays for our trip to Rwanda every night at 9:30 pm CST using the following prayer prompts. Would you join us?

Rwanda Prayer Calendar: April, 2011








1 Prayer Prompt: Pray for the work that Serge is doing in preparation for an April 14 fundraiser.

Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 9:24.

2 Prayer prompt: For God to give us abundant love for all those we meet in Rwanda.

Journal Prompt: Why do you think love & justice are so often linked when they are mentioned in Scripture? What would happen if we did justice without love?

3 Prayer Prompt: For the logistics of securing Canadian visas for those intern and I-Teams staff currently serving in Rwanda.

Scripture Prompt:

Ezekiel 22:29

4 Prayer Prompt: For courage to fight against the oppression of the poor – in the US and abroad.

Journal prompt: What do you think it means to oppress the poor? How do you think the poor are oppressed in Rwanda? What can you do about this?

5 Prayer Prompt: That people would donate LOTS of stuff for our Rummage Sale on April 30.

Scripture Prompt:

Luke 23:26-38.

6 Prayer Prompt: For healing for all those affected by the Rwandan genocide, which began on this day in 1994.

Journal Prompt: Imagine you were present at Jesus' crucifixion. What would you have thought when you heard him say, “Father, forgive them?”

7 Prayer Prompt: For the safe arrival of Mark & Kim, a Canadian couple visiting Rwanda until September to discern whether or not God might be calling them to serve in Rwanda long-term. Scripture Prompt:

Mark 11:25.

8 Prayer Prompt: That we would be quick to forgive one another during our time in Rwanda.

Journal Prompt: Why is forgiveness so difficult yet important?

9 Prayer Prompt: For world leaders to have the courage to act boldly in order to prevent genocide.

Scripture Prompt:

Matthew 18:21-35.

10 Prayer Prompt: For reconciliation and forgiveness between the Rwandans as their nation continues to experience healing.

Journal Prompt: What do you hope to learn from the people of Rwanda about forgiveness and reconciliation?

For unity amongst our team.

12 Prayer Prompt: For good family time for Jen & Serge and their three children. Journal Prompt:

Why is team unity so important for a successful mission trip?

13 Prayer Prompt: For us to experience unity with our Rwandan brothers and sisters in Christ.

Scripture Reading:

Ephesians 4:7-10.

14 Prayer Prompt: For the fundraiser that Serge is involved in tonight as he seeks to raise money for on-going development projects.

Journal Prompt: How can our team maintain its unity – even in the midst of conflict?

15 Prayer Prompt:

For our ability to show grace to one another during our mission trip, even when we're frustrated or tired.

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:11-16.

16 Prayer Prompt: For us to be able to discover and use our gifts to serve and honor God – both in Rwanda and once we return home.

Journal Prompt: What are your spiritual gifts? How might you use these when we're in Rwanda? After we return home?

17 Prayer Prompt: For God to provide the people we need to make next Saturday's Rummage Sale a success.

18 Prayer Prompt: For the children that Jen & Serge sponsor in school as they interact with the Kamari's this month.

Journal Prompt: While in Rwanda, why might we need to wait on God?

19 Prayer Prompt:

Praise God for all those who have, in some way, supported our Rwanda Mission Trip. Pray especially for our stockholders.

Scripture Reading: 1 Thessalonians 2:8

20 Prayer Prompt: For Jen & Serge's son, Prince, who is on vacation from school this month. Journal Prompt: Who has cared enough for you to share both the Gospel & their life with you? What might it look like for us to care deeply enough about people to do this in Rwanda?

21 Prayer Prompt: For justice to roll down like a river.

Scripture Reading: Amos 5:24

22 Prayer Prompt: For the leadership of President Paul Kagame and his continued efforts to unite the Rwandan people.

Journal Prompt: What do you think it would look like for justice to roll down like a river in Rwanda? How might a Rwandan answer this question?

23 Prayer Prompt: That God would continue to unite Jen & Serge and strengthen their marriage.

Scripture Reading: Micah 6:8

24 Prayer Prompt: For safety as we travel to, from, and in Rwanda.

Journal Prompt: How do you live out Micah 6:8 in your life? How do you hope this will change after our experience in Rwanda?

25 Prayer Prompt: For the logistical details that still need to get worked out for our trip.

26 Prayer Prompt: For the preparation going on for Saturday's rummage sale.

Journal Prompt: Do you think true justice is what has happened in Rwandan following the genocide? Why or why not?

27 Prayer Prompt: For the charity who will be picking up the surplus from Saturday's rummage sale.

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 9:6-15

28 Prayer Prompt: That God would multiply our time tonight as we prepare for tomorrow's Rummage Sale.

Journal Prompt:

Two months from today, our trip will be over. How do you hope you'll be different as a result of it?

29 Prayer Prompt:

That all those who enter Faith tomorrow for the Rummage Sale might also catch a glimpse of Christ in us.
